Sharyland ISD extends superintendent's contract through 2028; superintendent pledges salary increase to Education Foundation

The Sharyland ISD Board of Trustees moved Aug. 25 to amend the superintendent's contract, adding an additional year through June 2, 2028, and to amend compensation as discussed in executive session. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
Following the vote, Superintendent Dr. Howard thanked the board and announced that he would donate the entire amount of any compensation increase to the Sharyland ISD Education Foundation. "Though I am very grateful for any increase to my salary, I will be donating the entire amount to the Education Foundation," he said publicly after the motion passed.
Board members praised the superintendent's leadership and the pledge of support for the foundation. No dollar amount for the compensation change was stated on the public record during the open session motion; the motion was subject to final legal approval per the agenda language.
