Sharyland ISD retains A rating; district earns postsecondary readiness distinction for third consecutive year

Sharyland ISD presented its official state accountability results Aug. 25, reporting a district score of 91 and earning the postsecondary‑readiness distinction for 2023, 2024 and 2025.

At a board meeting, a district presenter identified changes to the state accountability system that affected recent ratings, including recalculation of CCMR (college, careers, and military readiness), recalibrated academic‑growth measures and revised ‘‘closing the gaps’’ calculations. The presenter said those rule changes and related litigation delayed release of some ratings and affected high‑school outcomes.

The presenter said Sharyland High School earned an A for 2023–25 and that Pioneer High School moved from a B in prior years to an A in 2025. BL Gray junior high maintained an A with a 92, and the presenter listed campus scores and distinctions for elementary and other junior‑high campuses. The presenter noted Sharyland Elementary earned a B in 2025 and said campuses such as RD Martinez and Donna Wiernicki finished the year with scores near the next letter grade.

"We are an A district. We earned a 91, and we are one of the few districts in Region 1," the presenter said, noting regionwide comparisons and that only 18% of districts in Region 1 earned As in the most recent release.

Board members praised campus leaders and emphasized the role of student attendance, participation in accelerated programs, and postsecondary options such as AP/SAT/ACT in improving outcomes. The presentation included distinctions based on campus quartiles for postsecondary readiness and noted that district ratings are weighted by enrollment shares across elementary, junior‑high and high‑school campuses.

The presentation was informational; no formal board action on the accountability ratings was required.
