Roseville resident urges Macomb County to advocate against cuts to federal aid funding local programs

A Roseville resident told the Macomb County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 20 that federal budget cuts could jeopardize funding for county programs and asked the board to advocate to protect grants that support services including the Central Intake and Assessment Center.
During the second public comment period of the Feb. 20 meeting, Monica Tronyak of Roseville told the Macomb County Board of Commissioners she was deeply concerned about the potential loss of federal funding that supports several county programs.
Tronyak cited budget reliance on federal dollars for initiatives including the county’s Central Intake and Assessment Center and described other grant-supported programs that she said were at risk if federal assistance is reduced. She identified the American Rescue Plan (federal) as a funding source for the Central Intake and Assessment Center and named MDOT, the Area Agency on Aging and Community Development Block Grants among other funding streams that county programs depend upon.
"I ask that members of this board stand together and advocate fiercely in support of continuing the current level of federal funding for county services that are in jeopardy due to cuts in the federal assistance," Tronyak told commissioners.
Her remarks appeared during the public participation portion of the meeting; no board action was recorded in direct response to the comment during the session.
