Board office outlines events calendar, Civic Clerk rollout and volunteer recognition plans

Crystal, the board’s chief of staff, gave a detailed office update at the Feb. 20 meeting covering communications, events and technology initiatives the county board office is coordinating.

Crystal said the board office is updating its printed guidebook (published every other year) and expects to send it to print in early March. The office scheduled a Volunteer Recognition dinner for April 15; commissioners may nominate up to one person each and nominations are accepted through March 7. The Green Schools application window is open through March 9. The Macomb County celebration at MASC is scheduled for April 25 and a Tri-County celebration is set for May 1 at the Detroit Zoo. A proposed Yoga at the Hill event is pending confirmation from Freedom Hill for a Saturday in June.

Crystal told commissioners that a Civic Clerk product is on track for a spring rollout and that the county’s constituent-management system (IQ) has seen an increase in inbound messages since January. Staff also updated website content, added sliders to make public-facing documents easier to find and produced social-media videos and a March newsletter. Crystal described a proposed video series in which commissioners would highlight a local place or event and record a short video for posting through the year.

Crystal also reminded commissioners that CMH board applications are due March 4 and that the board will consider those appointments at the March full-board meeting. Staff requested that commissioners contact the office about upcoming conferences and events (MAT conference in April) and about any photos or event descriptions they want posted to county social media.
