Engineering director Ryan Oster told council the authorization advances the project beyond preliminary work into full design. He said staff will present design alternatives at roughly the 30% design milestone and conduct open houses, with particular outreach to the Nottingham neighborhood because the project will be impactful to that area.
Councilor Mike Riley pulled the consent item to ensure residents understood the project had not yet reached 30% design and would receive public engagement opportunities. Council then approved the design contract (base amount plus anticipated additional phase) by voice vote.
