Council appoints three city staff as alternates to Bend MPO policy board

The Bend City Council voted to appoint three city staff members as alternates to the Bend Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) policy board.
Staff explained the MPO bylaws require minimum representation to conduct business and that current bylaws could leave the MPO unable to act if two city representatives are absent. The council approved the appointment of Brian Rankin, David Abbas and Janet Ruby as staff alternates so the MPO can meet and conduct essential transportation planning.
Councilor Mike Riley moved the appointments; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
