Village staff reported that Shorewood, in coordination with the North Shore Health Department and neighboring public-works offices, obtained a grant to fund outreach related to lead service lines.
The village manager said: "We were successful with the North Shore Health Department and Public Works, obtaining the grant to provide some additional, informational and health related items related to blood service lines," noting the agreement describes a shared employee who will be a North Shore Health Department employee assigned to outreach and shared services for Shorewood and neighboring communities.
The grant is intended to provide informational and health-related outreach about lead service lines and to fund a shared staff resource to support those efforts. The manager said the agreement is included in the meeting materials and staff will coordinate next steps with the North Shore Health Department and other participating municipalities.
No budget appropriation or hiring action was finalized at the meeting beyond including the agreement in meeting materials; staff will report further implementation details as the grant-funded activities are scheduled.
