Smith County accepts completion of County Road 411 project and adds Arbor Estates Phase 3 to maintenance

Smith County Commissioners accepted completion of roadway improvements to County Road 411 and authorized final payment to Texana Land and Asphalt Inc. on June 17.
Road and Bridge staff reported the contract was originally awarded at $409,140.20 and final construction cost was $382,795.77, producing an underrun of $26,344.43. The project included pavement improvements to approximately 1.23 miles of county roadway from Interstate 20 to FM 849; staff recommended and the court approved acceptance and payment authorization.
The court also accepted the roadways in Arbor Estates Phase 3 into the Smith County road-maintenance system. Staff inspected approximately 1,351 linear feet of additional roadway and found it meets county standards. Commissioners praised collaboration among the developer, residents and Road and Bridge staff in reaching the acceptance decision.
Commissioners authorized the county judge to execute the reconciliation change order for County Road 411 and to proceed with final payment. No bond requirement was applied in this case because staff said the road had been in service and performed without required corrective work since construction.
