Hartland board adopts package of NEOLA policy updates after months of dispute over minutes and review process

The Hartland Consolidated Schools Board of Education voted Tuesday to adopt a set of revised district policies supplied by NEOLA after extended discussion about whether those policies had been reviewed properly and whether board members should be governed by administrative conflict-of-interest language.

The debate began with a procedural dispute: Board Member Mr. Scott said the minutes from the Feb. 17 meeting incorrectly recorded a motion as having both passed eight NEOLA policies and postponed the rest, though, he said, the board had never made a motion to postpone. Mr. Scott moved to remove action item 2B from this meeting's agenda and to correct last month's minutes to reflect that only eight policies had been passed.
