Lancaster ISD staff recommend adopting Bluebonnet math; district seeks LASSO grant support

Doctor Barker presented Bluebonnet math to trustees as a recommended K-5 through Algebra I curriculum option that the district may adopt. She described Bluebonnet as a high-quality instructional material package vetted through the State Board of Education's instructional materials process and built from Eureka Math with state-specific alignment.
Barker said the curriculum aims to provide grade-level work daily and includes an implementation plan, teacher supports, and a required transition plan. She framed the curriculum as one component in a larger strategy to strengthen foundational skills after pandemic-related interruptions and said the state's adoption includes guidance and a requirement for district transition plans.
The superintendent's office also outlined a potential LASSO grant that would target support to Lancaster Middle School (LMS); if awarded, the grant would fund side-by-side coaching and implementation supports from a partner (SustainEd) customized to the district.
Doctor Barker said the district will bring a formal adoption request to the board in the next meeting; the Bluebonnet materials are available online for public review.
