Miami Lakes committee praises parade but flags safety issues for future events

The committee said it will make eligibility and behavior expectations explicit for future parades, including a directive that golf carts be driven only by licensed adult drivers and stronger enforcement or clearer instructions prohibiting throwing items from vehicles. Members observed that scheduling the parade close to Halloween likely increased candy availability and said timing may need consideration in future years.
Committee members also discussed continuing to invite attractions such as fire trucks and tactical vehicles for staging and public interest, and thanked volunteer groups and sponsors that supported the parade.
