The Fort Atkinson Plan Commission on Thursday approved a site plan review for a new non-illuminated sign at Rockwell Elementary School, 821 Monroe Street.
City staff told the commission the proposed sign meets the city’s land-use ordinances, is set back so it does not intrude into the intersection vision triangle, and matches materials used on other district signs approved earlier this year. "This is the last sign the school district will be bringing forward this year," a staff representative said, noting consistency with prior approvals.
A commissioner said the district signs “really pop” and are legible from a distance, calling them an improvement over earlier signage. The commission voted by voice to approve the site plan as presented.
The sign is not proposed to be lit, and staff said the location is a new sign rather than a replacement. No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
