Planning commission recommends approval of exterior remodel at 720 West Telegraph Street

The Washington City Planning Commission on Nov. 5 voted to recommend that City Council approve a conditional use permit (application C-25-12) to modify the exterior of an existing commercial building at 720 West Telegraph Street.

City planner Eldon said staff reviewed the applicant’s exhibits and found the proposal meets the C-2 use regulations in the zoning ordinance. The project shown in staff materials would update the front elevation by converting a pitched roofline to a flat roof at the building’s entrance and by adding lighter stucco around the entry. Staff recommended the commission forward the application to City Council with the findings and conditions listed in the staff report.

No members of the public spoke during the item’s public hearing. After the hearing, a commissioner moved to recommend approval “subject to the conditions and findings in the staff report.” The motion was recorded as having a first by Commissioner Tupelo and a second by Commissioner Anderson. Commissioners Anderson, Mitchell, Tupelo and Bullock voted “aye.”

The commission’s action is a recommendation to City Council; final approval rests with the council. The staff report and conditions will be included in the package forwarded to council for its decision.
