During the Oct. 7 meeting board members reviewed timelines and logistics for upcoming elections, annual planning and partner training.
Board members said they are assembling nominees for the supervisor election and working on an election committee. The committee composition discussed in the meeting calls for county residents with one supervisor and two interested citizens; a supervisor who is up for election cannot serve on the election committee. The board noted there were no confirmed nominees at the time of the meeting and asked staff to follow up on recruiting and committee membership.
Indiana State Department of Agriculture items announced during the meeting included a soil-sampling program open through Oct. 17 and conservation-award nominations open until March 31. An ISDA webinar on submitted resolutions was scheduled for Nov. 13 and the deadline for election committee and supervisor appointment materials was Nov. 1. The board also noted a State Board of Accounts financial training scheduled Dec. 1 in Indianapolis and a one-day conference Dec. 19 at the Indiana Farm Bureau.
Board members discussed potential dates and venues for the annual meeting; candidates raised the PAC center as a possible site and were to follow up with venue staff. The board set its next regular meeting for Nov. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
