Jeanette Colsar, chief of staff for Management and Budget, introduced Elizabeth (Betsy) Laughlin as the nominee for deputy chief financial officer for the Department of Management and Budget.
"I have a little over 18 years of finance accounting experience. I'm a CPA certified here in Michigan, and I am a passionate, leader in terms of collaboration and communication," Laughlin said when introducing herself to the committee.
Colsar described Laughlin's background as nearly 20 years of budget, finance, accounting, audit, internal controls and process-improvement experience, including roughly 12 years supporting government agencies. Commissioners had no substantive objections. Commissioner Recki moved the appointment as a stand-alone item; Commissioner Anderson seconded. The motion carried in committee.
The committee forwarded the nomination to the full board for final confirmation; the transcript indicates the committee vote carried but does not record a roll-call tally in the committee transcript.
