Bear Valley Unified highlights new hires, student activities and community grant work
Summary

District staff presented several operational and community updates during the meeting.
Miss Marquez introduced four new classified employees: cafeteria worker Roosevelt Aparicio, a 1:1 mild-to-moderate special education aide Tanja Dobby at Big Bear High School, new VA Dahlia Quillis at Baldwin Lane Elementary and special education aide Tracy Evans. The hires were presented as continuing or new roles to strengthen nutrition and special education supports.
Student representatives Joshua and Nisha reported monthly attendance is improving, noted one recent graduate, and summarized field trips and activities including a hike to Goober Crest, a zoo visit, a mechanics vocational site visit and performing arts fall play dates. Student reports also listed fall sports results, with tennis finishing 5-7.
Staff described recent community engagement: instructional rounds intended for peer teacher learning; a CCSPP grant committee meeting with community partners (including Rotary and Ed Trust) to plan restricted grant spending for the next 3.5 years; and upcoming youth sports complex work including tree removal and contractor meetings. No formal action was taken on these informational items.
