Homewood zoning board approves fee review and adopts 2026 calendar change

The Homewood Board of Zoning Adjustments on Nov. 6 approved administrative items including a staff-requested review of board application fees and the board’s 2026 meeting and application-deadline calendar.
Planning staff presented proposed increases to the board’s application fees and asked for formal action to review and amend the fee schedule. A motion to review and amend the existing board application fees was made and seconded; the motion passed 4–1 (Miss Childs, Mister Perkle, Mister Johnson and Miss Hand voted yes; Mister Nieves voted no). Staff said it will update fee materials and communicate new amounts once the review is complete.
Board members also discussed the 2026 meeting calendar, and staff recommended moving the July meeting from July 2 to July 9 to avoid conflict with Independence Day and to ensure deadlines for advertising and applicant submissions are clear. The board adopted the calendar with the July change; the vote was recorded in favor by all members present.
Staff additionally announced personnel updates: Amy is serving as acting city engineer after being hired earlier as senior civil engineer; Mister Smith has moved into an acting city manager role. Staff said CAPZO training is scheduled for Dec. 6 and will be posted in accordance with open-meetings requirements.
