Summary

Londonderry Middle School presented a new financial literacy pathway for grades 6–8 that layers EverFi modules (Vault, FutureSmart, Save Up, Smart Economics, Venture) with the longstanding CU for Reality budgeting fair; staff said modules are free through a foundation grant and align with state standards and the district's Portrait of a Graduate.

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Londonderry Middle School is expanding its financial‑literacy curriculum with EverFi online modules and by integrating the lessons into its long‑running CU for Reality budgeting fair, presenters told the School Board on Nov. 4.

Megan Mason, curriculum coordinator at Londonderry Middle School (LMS), and eighth‑grade teacher Jen LaBranche described a pathway that uses the Vault and FutureSmart modules first, then follows with Save Up, Smart Economics and an entrepreneurship unit called Venture. Students who participate research careers, build budgets, learn basics of saving and banking, and culminate with an in‑school CU for Reality fair supported by St. Mary's Bank and community volunteers.

"It allows us to include all of our students who may be in a lower level math ... all the way up to our higher advanced math students in the eighth grade," Mason said. The district noted the EverFi content is free for schools through the MassMutual Foundation and maps to national and state standards for financial literacy and math.

Teachers reported students have begun conversations at home about money management and paychecks as a result of the lessons. Board members praised the practical nature of the modules and noted the program helps students make real‑world connections before they obtain their first jobs.

The presentation was informational. LMS staff said they will continue to implement modules and report back on outcomes.
