Sebastian NRB schedules seed‑packet workday and plans tropical float for Dec. 6 parade

The Natural Resources Board set a seed‑packet assembly work session for Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. at the city art club and approved participation in the Dec. 6 Christmas parade with a tropical theme.

Felicia told the board she is awaiting pricing for custom envelopes for the seed packets; as a contingency, staff can use previously purchased envelopes and place a removable sticker saying the packet contains native wildflower seeds. Ron Mead provided smaller stickers previously; staff is exploring larger labels if needed. Seed inventory is sufficient, Felicia said.

Members voted by voice to set the Nov. 18 work session at 4:00 p.m.; several members volunteered to attend. The board discussed float preparation logistics (decorating a few hours before the parade, staging by 5:00–5:30 p.m.), decorations (tropical items such as inflatable flamingos or palms), music options (battery‑powered PAs being offered as backups) and candy giveaways. Members recommended individually wrapped, paper‑wrapped or small hard candies (examples discussed: Lifesavers, Dum Dums, Tootsie Rolls) and noted prior experience running out of candy mid‑parade; staff will collect price and quantity options and finalize a purchase plan.

The board also agreed to recruit parade riders and walkers among members and volunteers and to coordinate with the parade truck driver for line‑up and safety.
