The City of Sebastian Natural Resources Board on Nov. 4 voted unanimously to endorse a GIS story map cataloging Little Free Library locations across the city and authorized staff to publish it on city platforms.
Ross Kelly, the city’s GIS technician, demonstrated the interactive story map that locates boxes, displays photographs and gives site details. Felicia told the board the story map would be posted on the city website and promoted via social media once the board provided official endorsement.
A motion to endorse the story map was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; members present voted “aye” with no recorded nays.
Board members said the map promotes literacy and provides residents an easy way to locate neighborhood book exchanges. Ross noted the tool could be expanded to include additional features such as QR codes or a tour mode.
What’s next: Staff will publish the story map and coordinate promotion across city channels and partner organizations.
