At the start of the Nov. 5 meeting, the Boston City Council recognized Health Care for All on the organization’s 40th anniversary and read a resolution extending the council’s gratitude for its advocacy on health equity and expanded coverage.
Councilor Pepin introduced the recognition and described Health Care for All as a leading advocacy organization that fields more than 20,000 calls annually in several languages to help residents access health insurance and services. "Health care for all has demonstrated that people and groups can make positive change, create better health outcomes for our neighbors," Pepin said.
Amy Rosenthal, the organization’s executive director, thanked the council and noted partnerships with community-based groups in Boston that support outreach and enrollment work. The council read a formal resolved clause: "the Boston City Council extends its gratitude to Health Care for All in recognition of over 40 years advocating for health justice in Massachusetts." A ceremonial photo followed the presentation.
Clarifying details given during the presentation included that the organization fields over 20,000 calls annually and provides services in five languages; Rosenthal named multiple Boston-based community partners that assist outreach and enrollment.
