The Community Services Commission on Nov. 5 received a first cut of Lake Forest's annual Veterans Day tribute video and details about a brick-unveiling event planned for Nov. 10.
Jonathan Volsky, the city's communications and marketing manager, told the commission the video compiles photographs submitted by veterans and their families and that the city posts the tribute online rather than competing with the long-running program at El Toro Memorial Park. "Every year, we compile a Veterans Day tribute video, and this is actually our first cut of this video," Volsky said. He said the city coordinated with the senior clubhouse and the banner program when soliciting photographs.
Volsky said the brick-unveiling ceremony is set for noon on Nov. 10 and that approximately 70 family members will attend the initial unveiling. He said about 47 families had participated in the brick program for the initial unveiling. Deputy City Manager McGovern added that the city will provide RSVP information for commissioners and the public.
Commissioners praised the video and asked whether the same cut could be shown at the senior clubhouse celebration; Volsky said the city would make the video available. Several commissioners said they planned to attend the unveiling in person.
The presentation was limited to a preview; no formal action was required by the commission. The event schedule and the video posting plan are on file with the communications division.
