The Town of Oak Ridge Council on Nov. 6 approved a set of routine administrative actions including reappointments, committee appointments, a contract renewal, and schedule approvals.
Council reappointed Ron Simpson and Craig Rosenfeld as regular members of the Planning & Zoning Board and appointed Jeff Richter and Moses Perry to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) committee. The manager said the council could consider those as separate motions or one combined motion; council approved both appointments by voice vote.
The council approved the proposed 2026 meeting schedule (with the January, April and July meetings moved to the second Thursday to avoid holiday conflicts) and the 2026 observed holiday schedule, which follows the State of North Carolina calendar.
On contracts, the council approved staff’s request to renew the annual stormwater engineering contract with Friese (Freeze) & Nichols with a not-to-exceed cap of $23,000 per year. Staff said Friese Nichols has been the town’s stormwater engineer since 2018 and performs plan review, inspections, Jordan Lake rules compliance reporting, and citizen-response tasks; staff reported the town has not exceeded the cap in prior years.
The council also authorized the assistant to destroy old audio records (CDs, cassettes and older electronic files) for town council, Planning & Zoning, Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservation Commission meetings from January 2010 through October 2024 under the state-approved records disposition schedule.
Ending: Council approved all administrative items on the consent/manager’s agenda by voice vote. Staff will execute the contract renewal and carry out the records disposition per the approved schedule.
