County asks University of Georgia Extension to invite county representative to extension hiring panels in updated MOU

Staff explained the MOU had three addenda that describe pay and administration options (county pays 100% of local supplement, university pays directly and bills the county, etc.). The county staff and commissioners said a recent hire had proceeded without county participation in the interview process and requested clearer language requiring UGA Extension to invite a county representative to serve on interview committees for positions funded or assigned to Dade County.
Commissioners asked the county attorney and staff to propose stronger, clearer wording that allows the county to accept or provide written reasons for a disapproval of an appointment recommendation. Staff agreed to draft revised language, circulate it to commissioners for comment, and send the revised MOU to UGA for review; the item will return to the commission for final consideration.
