Cheltenham School District finance staff presented a draft resolution for board consideration asking the state to end the budget impasse and release federal funds to school districts. The resolution also calls for compliance with a Commonwealth Court ruling concerning equitable funding, repayment of interest and fees districts incurred during the impasse, and cyber charter funding reform.
"The last item is a board action item, and that is a, recommendation to approve a resolution for the state to end its budget impasse," said mister Swankham. He summarized the resolution's points and said a copy would be placed on BoardDocs after the meeting for board review and potential future action.
Committee members asked whether the resolution originated with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) or another group. The transcript records that the form of the resolution was attributed to PSBA and that a version had also circulated from DSBA. No vote on the resolution was recorded at the finance committee meeting; staff indicated the resolution would be posted to the district's BoardDocs site for additional distribution.
Because the committee did not record a vote at the meeting, the resolution remains a staff recommendation pending formal board action. The transcript shows staff asked the board to consider posting and later formal consideration; follow-up is needed to determine if and when the board will adopt the resolution.
