Groves council approves sale of small, unusable city lot to adjacent owner

The Groves City Council voted Oct. 13 to sell part of Lot 6, Block 3, East Port Arthur Addition (Property ID 30457) to the adjacent property owner. Staff said the parcel had been gifted to the city years earlier, is constrained by TxDOT setbacks and cannot support development, and would make a suitable side yard for the neighbor.
City staff said the property transfer will return the parcel to the tax roll, providing tax revenue where previously there was none. The council authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute all necessary documents to complete the sale.
The motion passed on the record without further amendment.
