Staff presented a draft master plan and said the Talent Historical Society had expressed interest in being a partner; councilors suggested hybrid uses to balance museum space and rentable community event space.
Councilor Panamara and other councilors described possible uses such as a small stage for community theater, meeting space for local groups and rental availability for events historically hosted at the town hall: "It would be great if part of their occupation of that space was also some sort of community use, community meeting space, event space," a councilor said. Staff said the Historical Society is already engaged in fundraising and recommended a public meeting and an online survey to gather wider community input. Council discussed linking outreach to community events (Harvest Festival, tree lighting) and making survey materials available in Spanish.
No decision was made at the Oct. 1 meeting. Staff will plan public outreach (in‑person meeting and online survey) and return to council with community input and potential tenant scenarios and fundraising strategies.
