Board approves grant and budget transfers including Title IV expansion and 10th-day staffing realignment

The Georgia Department of Education increased the district's Title IV 21st Century Community Learning Center award by $997,233, raising the fiscal 2025'26 allocation to $3,360,000; staff requested a budget amendment to align revenue and expenditure budgets to the increased grant amount and the board approved the amendment.
Finance also sought approval for a $7,818,734 transfer to reallocate staffing and salary budgets based on the district's tenth-day enrollment counts. Board members asked for clearer transparency in future transfers, requesting a line-item breakdown that shows which schools lost or gained funds to reconcile the movement of salary budgets among buildings.
Additionally, due to the closure of Schumann Elementary, the school-food-service department requested a $1,189,833 budget transfer to move Schumann's food-service revenue and expense lines into central accounts; a portion of the funds will support a satellite meal-preparation program housed at Savannah Arts Academy. Board members asked staff to ensure satellite operations do not conflict with Savannah Arts' meal preparation window; staff confirmed operations were planned to avoid conflicts.
All transfers and amendments were approved by the board.
