Board approves temporary equipment storage agreement with Sunset Grill
Summary
With the Sunset Grill concession lease ended Nov. 1, the board approved a temporary storage agreement allowing the outgoing tenant to keep equipment in the building while negotiating sale to a new vendor; the equipment will remain insured through March or until sold.
The Parks and Recreation Board on Nov. 5 approved a temporary equipment storage agreement with Sunset Grill to allow the outgoing concessionaire to leave equipment in the building for a limited time after the Nov. 1 lease end.
Staff told the board the lease allows the tenant to keep property in the building for up to 10 days after the lease end, after which property would revert to the department. In fairness to Sunset Grill and to assist a smoother transition for a new vendor, staff negotiated a temporary agreement that extends storage and allows the departing concessionaire to keep insured equipment in place through March or until it is sold to the incoming vendor.
Staff said the arrangement benefits the departing tenant, the incoming vendor and the department because equipment in good condition can reduce upfront costs for a new operator. The agreement was reviewed and approved by the city attorney. A board member moved and the board voted to approve the temporary storage agreement.
