The commission noted receipt of legal counsel's letter withdrawing WVU Medicine's objection to the Lindt estate and recorded that withdrawal for the record. The action followed a staff update and a motion to accept the withdrawal, which carried on a voice vote.
Separately, the commission confronted a disputed will presented in the Harrington estate. County staff described the document as having visible whiteout and writeovers and said the witnesses did not sign the will itself but provided a separate affidavit. Because of those questions, county staff recommended that the sworn administrator, Ronald Harrington, remain in place and continue administering the estate under intestacy procedures while any validity dispute is resolved in circuit court.
The commission approved a motion to not acknowledge the presented will for estate administration purposes and to allow Ronald Harrington to continue performing administrator duties. Commissioners said a family member or other interested party may pursue the will's validation in circuit court if they wish to contest the county's administrative stance.
No fines, specific asset distributions or other remedies were decided at the meeting; the commission's actions affect only the county-level administration of the estates and do not prevent subsequent court action on the will.
