Boltz said two local firms did not perform boiler work; A-1 Plus Plumbing and Cooling was available to perform the service, and staff believed immediate action was needed to avoid loss of heat and potential replacement of the entire boiler system.
The board discussed vendor sourcing and the value of maintaining an updated contractor list by trade so staff could call multiple local vendors in future emergencies. After discussion, a board member moved and the board voted to approve the special purchase request.
The board recorded no further follow-up beyond asking staff to maintain and update a local contractor list.
