Maria Juarez elected 2‑year co‑chair of ApplyTexas advisory committee

Committee members nominated and elected Maria Juarez, director of enrollment services at Amarillo College, as the ApplyTexas advisory committees 2‑year co‑chair for the 2025–27 term. Jorge Dimas opened the nomination and Maria Juarez verbally accepted.

The motion to appoint Juarez was made by Raymond Blakely (University of Texas at Austin) and seconded by Nicholas Medina (Collin College). Because the meeting was virtual, the committee conducted a roll‑call vote; the chair announced that Juarez had been accepted as the 2‑year co‑chair.

Why it matters: The co‑chair works with coordinating‑board staff to set agendas, coordinate professional development and report committee recommendations to the coordinating board. Juarezs role will include collaborating with staff on the committees work plan and outreach for the next two years.
