Revere Human Rights Commission offers solidarity to Sudanese residents, pauses for moment of silence

Chair Hosseini brought forward a statement of solidarity at the Nov. 6 meeting citing the ongoing civil war between the Sudanese National Army and the Rapid Support Forces and the large numbers of displaced and dead reported in the conflict.

Hosseini noted that Revere has a Sudanese population and said the commission wanted to acknowledge the humanitarian crisis and offer a moment of silence. "You don't even have to be religious to do it," Hosseini said, urging commissioners and residents to hold communities in their thoughts.

The statement was framed as a symbolic act of solidarity rather than a policy measure. Hosseini also connected the solidarity moment to the commission’s broader work of raising awareness about international and local human-rights concerns and urged commissioners to continue sharing information that could support community members in need.
