Council schedules public hearing on budget amendment; $100 Christmas bonus proposed for employees

City Treasurer Alan Owens presented the second reading of Ordinance 25-15, the first budget amendment for fiscal year 2025–26. Owens said the amendment increases revenues by $121,628 to reflect grant receipts and increases the streets budget by $121,006.28 to pay SRS for a street signal project. He also noted a $500 contribution to the fire department from the Bob Davis Memorial Fund; that donation increases revenue and the fire-supplies line by $500.
"There is no net effect on the fund balance with these proposed changes," Owens said. The council scheduled a public hearing on the amendment for Tuesday.
Separately, Councilman Michael reminded the council a $100 Christmas bonus for traditional employees will be on the next council meeting's agenda; he estimated the cost at approximately $13,000 to be paid in December payroll.
Both items were placed on upcoming agendas for formal consideration; no final votes were taken at the meeting.
