Students from elementary schools presented a Veterans Day tribute and explained a student-written thank-you-note project that will be distributed to local veterans and HCPS employees who served. School leaders highlighted literacy work including a book-nook that distributed 2,500 books last school year, and a video project in which students performed an original song produced by a district music teacher.
District communications staff announced two awards of excellence for family-facing materials (a school-year calendar magnet and a "My Path to Graduation" magnet) judged by a regional panel of public-relations professionals. The division said the awards recognized its emphasis on clear, accessible information for families.
The board also recognized winners of a bullying-prevention poster contest held during VSBA Bullying Prevention Month and thanked participating students. Board members and staff celebrated Bassett High School’s marching band for a statewide championship and noted other student extracurricular successes and upcoming ribbon-cutting events.
Ending: Staff encouraged continued community engagement and use of the division hashtag proud to be HCPS for district communications.
