Emmons County approves building permits, tax parcel adjustment and plat; Kennedy renewal cleared

Emmons County commissioners approved several routine land-use and tax items during the meeting, including a building permit for a hoop structure, a tax-parcel reassessment tied to a demolished property, a plat approval, and a renewal building permit for a farm-shop addition.

A commissioner moved to approve a building permit for Dangerson to erect a "308 By 50" hoop structure; Jim Radiver seconded the motion. The board voted "Aye" and the motion carried.

The board then approved a tax adjustment for parcel number 52-0006-00444-000 for tax year 2025. Staff said the parcel had previously been associated with a United Methodist Church property and, after a house on the parcel was torn down, taxes are now due again. A motion to approve the tax item was seconded by Maggard and carried on a voice vote.

Commissioners confirmed a plat lying in the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 9, Township 129, Range 75; staff reported no issues with the plat. A motion was made and seconded by Miller, and the motion carried.

On a separate item, the board reviewed a renewal building permit for Lyle Kennedy for a farm-shop addition on the west side of an existing veterinary clinic on about 2.8 acres (section cited). A commissioner moved to approve the renewal; the motion was seconded and carried.
