Public Works approves Narragansett Electric/Verizon petitions for new utility poles on Reeves Place and Western Industrial Drive

At its Nov. 6 meeting the Public Works Committee approved two petitions from Narragansett Electric and Verizon New England to install new poles in the city.

Committee members moved to approve a petition for a new pole on Reeves Place after Director Frank Correo’s written recommendation was reported into the record. The committee then approved two petitions (P17 and P18) for a new pole on Western Industrial Drive; Director Correo told the committee he had provided correspondence recommending approval from the Department of Public Works.

Clerk roll calls recorded affirmative votes for the motions and the chair declared the petitions approved. No substantive opposition or public comment on the petitions was recorded in committee.

The committee forwarded approval to the clerk; DPW will coordinate with the utility companies on scheduling and permitting for the pole installations.
