DCA names new board bureau relations leaders; cybersecurity month prompts reminder to "think before you click"

Ian Golliger of the Department of Consumer Affairs briefed the advisory council on Oct. 16 about personnel and outreach matters at DCA. He said Governor Newsom appointed Lucy Saldivar as deputy director of board and bureau relations (starting Oct. 20) and Shelley Jones as assistant deputy director (serving since Sept. 25). Golliger also outlined board member orientation week on Oct. 22 and encouraged council members to use the DCA learning management system for registration.
In recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Golliger reiterated four standard tips: think before you click, update software regularly, use strong passwords, and back up data. "One small click can have big consequences," he said, encouraging staff to report suspicious emails to bureau leadership.
Deputy Chief Claire Goldstein added a note that the governor's proposed reorganization splitting business, consumer services and housing into separate agencies will take effect in January 2026 and that the bureau will move to the (new) Business and Consumer Services Agency; she said the change is not expected to alter day-to-day operations but could align the bureau with other consumer-focused agencies.
