A staff member told the council the town’s deadline for compliance is April 24, 2027, and that not all documents are grandfathered. The staff summary noted that heavy documents—such as an ADA plan and the town strategic plan—would be labor‑intensive to remediate and that the town could obtain third‑party quotes for work on those items.
Council members discussed options including: (1) hiring an hourly administrative assistant to perform clerical remediation tasks; (2) engaging an intern for a limited-term project; or (3) contracting a vendor for high‑priority documents. Staff also proposed a policy that new documents will not be posted to the town website unless they meet accessibility requirements.
No formal vote was taken. The council asked staff to prepare materials for a short work‑session conversation and to, if feasible, begin remediation work before Jan. 6, 2026 so departing councilmembers can hand off partially completed work to the incoming council.
