Alton ZBA schedules rehearings for two contested cases on Dec. 4

The Alton Zoning Board of Adjustment on Nov. 6 voted to grant requests for rehearing for two previously heard matters and scheduled the rehearings for the board’s Dec. 4 meeting.

Cases and reason

- Z25‑35 (Thane LLC, Map 11 Lot 28‑13): The board received a rehearing request submitted by counsel (Gary Bovo, Esq.). Board members said the applicant’s brief raised issues warranting further review and voted to allow a rehearing so the board can reconsider on the record.

- Z25‑36 (Map 15 Lot 9‑31‑3): A rehearing request from abutter Katherine Gould (submitted by counsel Stephen Grill) also was granted. The board said the petitioner raised factual and procedural matters meriting rehearing.

Board direction and schedule

Both rehearing motions passed unanimously. The board stated rehearings will be noticed and held at the Dec. 4, 2025 ZBA meeting; staff and the parties were asked to follow the usual notice and filing procedures.

Practical note

Board members and staff said that in some matters negotiations between parties or changes in proposed plans can render rehearings unnecessary; the board asked parties to advise staff if continued settlement or plan changes will make a rehearing moot so the board can cancel or adjust the agenda accordingly.
