The Wallsburg Town Council approved a purchase request from the activities committee for recreational game sets to support local events and a July 24 tournament. Committee members said Stoney Mecham can build a quality folding set for about $275, and comparable options online were in the same price range; the committee asked the town to buy one set and recommended purchasing a second to support tournament play. Council moved, seconded and approved the purchase by voice vote.
Committee members reported the Halloween trunk-or-treat event was successful, with many decorated trunks and no major incidents reported. The town purchased small flashlights for children and local volunteers supported setup and cleanup. The committee described plans for a Santa visit on the first Monday in December (the Monday after Thanksgiving) that will include refreshments, a craft activity, candy canes and a tree-lighting kickoff.
Council and staff will finalize logistics at a meeting next week and coordinate any power or lighting needs for outdoor decorations.
