Council hears update on Canyon Road project; stormwater CDBG environmental clearance approved

Town staff told the Wallsburg Town Council the Canyon Road project has progressed to signage installation with most replacement signs installed across town; a few signs at the park and a remaining sign between the fire station and the pavilion still needed attachment.
Staff said cleanup of the current construction phase is complete and contractors will pause work until spring. Planned spring work includes profile grinding at joints, chip seal across the roadway and restriping. The town expects the overall project to be completed by June 30, 2026, and staff asked residents with complaints about finished pavement to submit them in writing so the engineer and contractor can address problem spots.
On the CDBG-funded stormwater effort, staff reported the environmental document for the stormwater study has been approved and the town is waiting on a state contract to begin. Staff described the first phase as targeted fixes on 1st North — installing a pipe to take runoff down to Spring Creek — followed by a townwide stormwater master plan funded through the grant. Staff said bids could be solicited as soon as December if federal/state approval timelines hold.
No formal action or new appropriation was taken on the projects at the Nov. 6 meeting.
