Blair County commissioners approved a finance recommendation on Nov. 6 to authorize Will Ross of TNF Exploration LP to lock natural gas prices at a maximum of $4.35 per dekatherm, using tiered coverage: 100% for Nov.–Dec. 2026, 50% for Jan.–Dec. 2027, and 25% for Jan.–Oct. 2028.
Finance staff presented the request, saying the hedging structure is intended to guarantee some pricing and realize savings into the future. A commissioner moved to approve the authorization, it was seconded and passed by voice vote. No detailed cost-benefit analysis or projected dollar savings were presented in the public portion of the meeting.
The board did not provide additional contract text or a copy of the hedging agreement during the meeting; execution will proceed through the county’s finance office and TNF Exploration if authorized.
