Police and administrative staff described the lease terms (multi‑year payment schedule with an interest rate included) and noted the practical reasons for leasing patrol vehicles that accumulate high mileage and heavy wear. Staff explained the city’s longer-term goal is to transition some vehicles back to purchase where it is cost-effective, and to retain flexibility to sell or auction vehicles at the end of a lease term. Council voted to approve the lease agreement by voice vote.
