Council approves Dec. 6 closure of Lawyers' Row for holiday market

Organizer Jennifer Moore requested permission for the community event 'Heck With The Malls' to use and close Lawyers' Row from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, to run a holiday market with crafters and a small farmers’ presence alongside the town's seasonal activities.

Moore described event logistics — vendors, a typical morning setup an hour before opening, and coordination with the Centreville Police for advance signage and barricades. Council discussed and approved the street closure by voice vote; members recommended an earlier barricade setup on occasion to reduce traffic disruption and discussed a backup plan used previously (moving indoors to the American Legion) when weather required.

Moore said the market organizers will return in spring to discuss the spring schedule; the council approved the December closure as requested.
