The committee voted to approve warrant S103125, with a total of $945,646.61 covering general expenses, grants and transportation. Jay (reading the warrant) listed general expenses of $37,966, grants of $415,544 and transportation totaling $492,135 before the roll call approval.
On personnel, HR director Deb Green reported 17 new hires between Oct. 9 and Oct. 22, including four hires in unit a and four in unit e; the district added eight substitutes to the pool; there were seven resignations and one retirement (later clarified). Green said there were 40 active job postings on PowerSchool (34 after excluding always‑open positions) including openings in special education, nursing, long‑term substitutes and food service. Committee members noted five of seven recent resignations had district tenure of two months or less.
The committee approved a memorandum of understanding between the district and CEA Unit E that resolves a miscalculation in compensating paraprofessionals for vector training conducted outside work hours. Superintendent Marcus Ware described the agreement as correcting the earlier error and compensating affected staff.
The policy and human resources subcommittee presented first readings of revised graduation policy IKF and competency determination policy IKFE; the committee approved the first reading to align district policy with Massachusetts Association of School Committees model language. Finally, the committee moved to executive session under state law to discuss strategy for nonunion personnel and collective bargaining and did not return to open session.
