Police Chief Goodrich reported the department handled 87 incidents in the last week, including a domestic-violence incident that resulted in a stabbing and required substantial investigative and evidence work.
Chief Goodrich said approximately 10 of 13 officers were dedicated to the stabbing response that night, with about 70 man-hours devoted that evening and another 30—0 added since. He highlighted the department's priority response to the stabbing victim: "Our response time ... was a minute 42 seconds," which the chief described as "phenomenal" and credited Logan City Fire for coordinated lifesaving efforts.
The chief listed other calls for service that week: three additional domestic incidents, 13 medicals, seven accidents, and three welfare checks. He announced the hire and swearing-in of Officer Checketts and noted the lieutenant position remains open. He encouraged council members to volunteer for the department's Shop with a Cop program on Dec. 6 at 9:00 a.m., including assisting officers and children with shopping and wrapping.
The council recognized the staffing accomplishment and congratulated the new officer.
