Captain Doug Lambert said the grant will balance community outreach with enforcement and that the department will hold neighborhood meetings in each ward to discuss traffic concerns. “We will be doing some outreach items to hand out to residents to hopefully alleviate some of these problems,” he said, and the city will invite councilors in each ward to those meetings. The $8,000 appropriation was described as an upfront cost that will be reimbursed when grant funds are received; the money will cover lawn signs and supplies for outreach and overtime for traffic enforcement.
Councilors praised the outreach component and emphasized that neighborhood‑level engagement should include councilors at‑large as well as ward representatives. The council approved both the grant acceptance and the $8,000 appropriation by roll call (votes recorded as approved).
