DPW Director Bob Ward said the city adjusted the early‑sign‑up window (moving the qualifying date back to Nov. 14) and raised the early‑sign‑up bonus by $2 per hour across categories: officials cited $5 per hour for smaller trucks and $7 per hour for larger trucks as the bonus increments. During the presentation councilors were provided competitive rate ranges; officials said the total hourly rates would remain competitive in the regional market.
The council approved the measure by roll call; the record shows two councilors abstained and the motion carried.
