Commission discusses switching Parker ATM to Federal Credit Union

During the Oct. 9 meeting the Taunton Golf Commission discussed a potential replacement of the clubhouse ATM operator with a Federal Credit Union.
The chair asked for details, and Ed, a course staff member, said the switch-over "should happen pretty smoothly and quickly." He told the commission the credit union had asked for activity figures from the prior ATM owner and that initiating the change in November would be preferable because foot traffic declines in winter; the ATM is routinely turned off in December and reactivated in mid-March.
On revenue, Ed said the current arrangement gives him a portion of yearly usage and that a new agreement would be "almost identical." He said the split would leave a portion to the current operator, a portion to TFED (the credit union), and a portion to the city. When asked whether credit union members would pay fees, Ed said "I think it may be free," adding that the change could encourage frequent users to join the credit union.
The commission did not adopt a formal motion to change operators at the Oct. 9 meeting and referred follow-up questions about activity figures and precise timing to staff and the incoming credit union representative.
